Come along and enjoy a delicious meal at Khair in the Community, Edward Street Day Centre, 120 Edward Street, Nuneaton  CV11 5RD every Tuesday from 12.00pm to 1.30pm. Our friendly team will provide a warm welcome, together with a hot, affordable and nutritious meal.

 

Khair in the Community is an active voluntary sector organisation, and is a member of Warwickshire CAVA, who have encouraged and supported KitC’s continued development. Khair in the Community has linked with Super Kitchen and Warwickshire’s Local Welfare Scheme to provide the third Super Kitchen in Nuneaton. This will be the fifth Super Kitchen in the County and Warwickshire County Council along with Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council are supporting this venture.

 

Super Kitchen sessions aim to reduce food poverty and social isolation, the ‘QwikCurry’ Super Kitchen will run every Tuesday from 12.00pm to 1.30 pm where a team of volunteers will provide a warm welcome and a hot affordable and nutritious meal costing £3.50 per person (Starter 75p, Main £2, Desert 75p, Hot & Cold drinks a free).

 

Every year in the UK 340,000 tonnes of surplus food is produced by the food industry, of which only 2% is redistributed – the rest going to landfill or used in animal feed. Food for the Super Kitchen comes from Fareshare, East Midlands in the form of surplus supermarket food which would otherwise have gone to waste. Some of the produce used by QwikCurry is purchased fresh from local suppliers to ensure our home cooked style dishes remain unique.

Super kitchens use some of this surplus food by providing social eating spaces where local communities can join together to eat a freshly made, hot and healthy meal. Every menu will be based on fresh surplus food available locally and menus will be posted on the Centre’s Facebook page (Khair in the Community) and on Twitter (@QwikCurry) on a weekly basis.

We offer a comfortable, cosy and warm eat in service at the centre, come along with your family, friends or colleagues. Free wifi is also available.

Our takeaway (pickup only) service has proved to be a very popular and demanding.
